IN PERSON
ABSTRACT
PAINTING
WORKSHOP

Sydney | March 11–15
In Person Changes Things.
When we are in the room together, guidance can happen in real time.
As you paint, I can see what is unfolding. Where your work tightens, where something hesitates, where another possibility is waiting. I can respond, helping you move your painting forward while you are still inside the process.
This five day in person abstract painting workshop in Sydney is a focused opportunity to work closely together, receive hands-on guidance, and create tangible movement in your work.
About The Workshop
This is a five day, in person abstract painting workshop held in Sydney.
Across the week you will:
-
paint daily in a supported studio environment
-
receive real time guidance as you paint
-
experience frequent demonstrations as questions, ideas, and challenges arise
-
explore abstract expressionism through practice rather than theory
-
loosen your marks and deepen your visual language
-
work through blocks as they arise while painting
Demonstrations are responsive rather than scripted, shaped by what is happening in the room and in the paintings being made.
Who This Is For
This workshop is for artists who feel drawn to abstraction.
You may already be working abstractly and want to refine or push existing artwork, or you may be standing at the edge of abstraction, curious but unsure.
You do not need to arrive confident.
You do not need a finished body of artwork.
You are welcome to bring unfinished paintings or begin something new.
All levels are welcome.
How The Guidance Works
Because this workshop is held in person, guidance happens while you are painting.
This may include:
-
live demonstrations
-
direct, practical suggestions
-
small interventions that unlock your painting
-
timely guidance when your artwork stalls
-
quiet support that helps you trust what is emerging
You will see ideas demonstrated, then have space to work them through in your own way.

FAQs
Do I need experience with abstract painting?
No. This workshop welcomes artists at all stages of their abstract journey, from first explorations to more established practices.
Will there be demonstrations?
Yes. There will be regular live demonstrations throughout the five days. These arise from what is happening in the room and in the paintings being made. Demonstrations are there to support your understanding, not to be copied.
Can I bring existing work?
Absolutely. You are welcome to bring unfinished or unresolved paintings, or to begin something new during the workshop.
What if I feel stuck or unsure?
That is a normal part of the painting process. Working in person allows guidance and demonstration to happen while you are painting, so you are supported in the moment rather than left to figure it out alone.
What’s included?
All materials are included. You simply need to arrive ready to paint. You are welcome to bring current work or tools you love or colours that are part of your individual palette.
